NOVARA browser extension
Optional Chrome, Edge, or Safari extension for tracker blocking, cleaner links, and private search shortcuts.
- Blocks common trackers via local rules (no remote executable code).
- Strips tracking parameters from copied / opened links.
- Quick private search launch into NOVARA.
- Optional threat status via NOVARA’s server API (honest unavailable state if the API is down).
Chrome Web Store is not available yet. A download is a zip of the extension folder — not the NOVARA website, and not a one-click Install.
Chrome / Edge — Load unpacked
The zip will not install itself. Unpack it, then load the folder that contains manifest.json.
- Download the Chrome / Edge extension zip (contains only extension files).
- Unzip it. Confirm the folder has manifest.json at the top level (not index.php or a website tree).
- Open chrome://extensions or edge://extensions and enable Developer mode.
- Click Load unpacked and select that extracted folder (the one with manifest.json).
- Pin the NOVARA Privacy action icon.
Safari — Xcode only (not one-click)
Safari cannot install from a website zip. There is no “Load unpacked”. You need full Xcode (not only Command Line Tools), then Safari → Develop → Allow Unsigned Extensions (often again after each Safari restart).
- Download the Safari Web Extension source zip (extension files only — not the NOVARA website).
- With Xcode installed, convert/build via the project scripts, then Build & Run the generated macOS app wrapper.
- Safari → Develop → Allow Unsigned Extensions, then enable NOVARA Privacy under Settings → Extensions.
